World No. 4 Barbora Krejcikova says she is feeling great this week as she hopes to make it all the way in Sydney.
Krejcikova, seeded at No. 3, destroyed Carolina Garcia 6-0 6-2 to progress into the Sydney semifinal.
Krejcikova, 26, is playing in Sydney for the first time in her career and she is enjoying a strong campaign.
Krejcikova will be battling world No. 7 Anett Kontaveit for a place in the Sydney final.
“I was feeling very well today and I’m really enjoying the atmosphere here and the beautiful stadium. I’m looking forward to playing another one soon,” Krejcikova said on-court in victory.
“Anett, she’s playing very well. She was playing well last year, she’s playing well this year again. She’s continuing her beautiful streak so I’m really looking forward to see where my level is and to play against her. It’s going to be a nice match.”
Krejcikova dominated Garcia
Krejcikova got off to an outstanding start to the match as she claimed four breaks and won the first eight games to open a 6-0 2-0 lead.
Garcia saved two break points in the third game of the second set to finally get on the board.
However, that didn’t change much as Krejcikova claimed her fifth break of the match in the seventh game, before routinely serving out for the match in the following game.
Krejcikova lost to Kontaveit in their lone meeting, which came at the WTA Finals last year.
Kontaveit expects a tough match against Krejcikova.
“It’s definitely going to be a tough match. She’s playing great. She’s had good wins,” Kontaveit said. “The season is so early on. Last time we played was the end of the season. It was different conditions, of course.
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge to play another Top 10 player. I’m glad to be putting myself in these situations and getting good matches and getting quality time on court.”
