Barbara Schett says Novak Djokovic will be her top favorite to win the Australian Open if he is allowed to play at Melbourne Park.
The Australian Border Force cancelled Novak Djokovic’s a week ago but the Serb appealed the decision and won his appeal in court.
However, the Djokovic visa still isn’t over as Immigration Minister Alex Hawke could use his powers to cancel the visa of the world No. 1.
“It all depends if he [Djokovic] can play the Australian Open now or not,” Schett told Express Sport.
“I mean we all know he’s won the Australian Open that many times, more than anybody else. You would put him in as the favourite obviously.”
Schett tips Djokovic to win, not sure Rafael Nadal can do it yet
Nadal, 35, missed the last two Grand Slams due to a foot issue.
Schett was asked to give her thoughts on Nadal’s chances of winning the Australian Open.
“Rafa Nadal, he won one of the lead-up tournaments. I’m not quite sure if he’s ready yet on a hard court to go all the way at a Grand Slam but you can never rule him out, he’s super motivated. I would think Rafa Nadal at the French Open is going to be the favourite once again.
“I think if Novak can play the Australian Open I think he will still do it because I think he’ll be super motivated and he will be even more dangerous than before because knowing him, he’s such a fighter and he wants to show everyone that he’s the best.”
Schett stated that a lot of the Australians think that Djokovic should be deported.
“We still haven’t heard a decision from the Immigration Minister, he’s still to come out with a statement and a lot of the Australians think that he shouldn’t be allowed into Australia because everybody has to be vaccinated here.”
