Urszula Radwanska feeling ‘strong symptoms’ after testing positive in Melbourne

Former world No. 29 Urszula Radwanska announced that she tested positive for COVID-19. 

Radwanska, now ranked at No. 231 in the world, is isolating feeling “strong symptoms” and isolating herself in her hotel room in Melbourne.

Radwanska has made five main draw appearances at Melbourne Park.

Radwanska’s best result at Melbourne Park came in 2012, when she made the second round. 

“Unfortunately, 2022 doesn’t start good for me. Today in Melbourne, I tested positive for COVID. Despite the strong symptoms, I hope that I will recover quickly. I’m in isolation in my hotel room. Take care of yourself and happy New Year,” Radwanska announced.

Radwanska joins Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Dalma Galfi

On Thursday, world No. 12 Pavlyuchenkova announced she tested positive for COVID-19. 

“Hi everyone. Unfortunately, I have some bad news. I arrived in Australia on Tuesday and tested positive for COVID-19,” Pavlyuchenkova announced.

“I was fully vaccinated and was preparing for the start of the season in Dubai. But we live in a very difficult and unpredictable time. Right now I’m in complete isolation, in a special hotel and following all the protocols under the supervision of doctors.

“Now it’s important to take care of yourself and the health of others. I’ll be back on court when it’s safe for everyone. Take care of yourself.”

Hours later, Hungarian tennis player Galfi also announced she tested positive for COVID-19 upon arriving to Australia.

“Hi everyone. Just wanted to update you that upon my arrival to Melbourne, I tested positive for COVID. I’m in isolation, and following all protocols,” Galfi announced. 

“Also I’m letting everyone know, who i’ve been in contact with the past few days.

“I’m experiencing minor symptoms right now, so I’m looking forward to be back on court as soon as it’s safe to do so. 

“Thank you in advance for your support.”
