World No. 19 Emma Raducanu has been announced as the new British Airways ambassador.
Raducanu, 19, burst onto the scene this past summer after she made the Wimbledon round-of-16 and won her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open.
Raducanu has signed several lucrative sponsorship deals since winning the US Open.
Raducanu is also the ambassador for the Dior, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany brands.
“(I’m) thrilled to join the @British_Airways family as a global brand ambassador! The airline has already been part of a special time for me, flying me home from the US Open. I look forward to working with the iconic British brand on some exciting projects!” Raducanu announced in a Twitter post.
Raducanu won the BBC SPOTY award
Raducanu made tennis history when she became the first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam.
On Sunday, Raducanu’s astonishing US Open was recognized in Great Britain as she won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
“Thank you, it’s such an honour just to be amongst these nominees. Congrats to you and all your achievements,” Raducanu said after winning the award.
“I’m really happy with this, I’ve watched Sports Personality of the Year growing up and it’s an honour to be amongst those past winners.
“I’m happy for British tennis as well, and that we’ve managed to get this award… again.
“Thanks to all the fans and voters, this year has been insane.
“I want to say thanks to my team, as well.
“Congrats to the other nominees’ teams as well, it’s a team effort.”
Andy Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion, was hoping Raducanu would win the award.
“She created arguably one of the biggest sporting moments of the year, so yeah, she deserves to win. Anytime I won I always got accused of having no personality, she certainly is a fantastic personality. I hope she wins,” Murray said last week in Abu Dhabi.
