After the tough decision made by the WTA, which chose not to play tournaments in China in 2022, the Peng Shuai’s issue continues to be discussed. The former world number one in doubles had published a post denouncing the famous social network Weibo on 2 November.
The Chinese player accused former Deputy Prime Minister and member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Politburo Zhang Gaoli of violence and rape. A few minutes after the publication of the content, Peng’s profile disappeared from social networks and only a questionable email and a short video conference organized by the Chinese government released new news on the state of health of the protagonist of the story.
In the last few hours, the Chinese state media have released a new video of Peng Shuai on Twitter; a video that would be sent directly to the Global Times reporter Quingquing Chen.
“A friend sent me this video showing tennis star Peng Shuai talking to Yao Ming, one of the most loved players in NBA history. The video was shot this morning at the Shanghai FIS Cross-Country Skiing China City Tour event,” wrote the reporter on her personal profile.
