ATP Finals: Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Nicolas Mahut conquer Turin

France’s Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut have captured the doubles title at the ATP Finals after beating Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury. 

Herbert and Mahut delivered a good performance as they beat Ram and Salisbury in straight sets 6-4 7-6 (0).

Herbert and Mahut made a great start to the match, having earned the first break of the match in the third game. 

Ram and Salisbury saved two break points in the fifth game and one more break point in the seventh game but Herbert and Mahut routinely served out for the opener in the 10th game. 

Herbert and Mahut pressured Ram and Salisbury in the second set but Ram and Salisbury saved a break point in the fifth game and one more in the seventh game to force a tie-break.

Herbert and Mahut missed out on break points in the second set but absolutely dominated the tie-break to book a straight-set win.

Herbert, Mahut win their second ATP Finals title 

Herbert and Mahut finished runners-up at the ATP Finals in 2018 but made it all the way at the tournament in 2019. 

Now it’s all set for the singles final between Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev.

“I lost 8/6 in the third in the group stage, so I am just looking forward to the match as I think it will be a great one,” Zverev said. “There is only the best here, so it takes a lot to win this tournament.

“I am looking forward to having another chance and we are in the final and I am happy to be in the final. He is one of the best players in the world right now, so It is going to be a difficult match no matter what.”

Medvedev also expects a tough match against Zverev. 

“At this moment we are the Top 3 in the rankings,” Medvedev said. “Just three of us left here, so I am looking forward to a great match tomorrow no matter who I play. I had a few tough matches against Novak lately and a few tough matches against Sascha and one here this week, so it is going to be interesting.”

Zverev won his lone ATP Finals title in 2018 after beating Novak Djokovic in the final. 

On the other side, Medvedev captured his first ATP Finals title last year.
