Mischa Zverev claims the rumors of Adidas terminating its contract with Alexander Zverev is untrue.
Alexander was accused of domestic violence by ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova and there were rumors that Adidas terminated its contract with the world No. 3 after the allegations were made.
Mischa insists Alexander just loves to wear Olympic clothes and that’s why he is not wearing Adidas all the time.
“No, no, with Adidas everything is alright. He just loves the stuff from the Olympics,” Mischa told Jannik Schneider.
Alexander Zverev has bad a big season
Despite all the off court drama, Alexander Zverev managed to accomplish some pretty notable things.
Zverev won five titles this year — two Masters title, two ATP 500 titles and the Tokyo Olympics.
“Every human being is different. His lawsuit against his old manager, it took almost two years and it was very stressful for Sascha. Back then he learned a lot of things about how to handle difficult sutiations outside the tennis court,” Mischa added.
“This year he showed that he is a good tennis player. He tries to focus on what he is able to control. He can absorb stress, critics very well to focus on tennis and control his tennis very well whenever he is on the court. He is just a strong human being. In general he was able to control difficult situations from a very young age well.”
The ATP launched its investigation into Alexander and the German welcomed the investigation.
“Bloody [time] finally to be honest,” said Zverev, during his news conference ahead of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. “I have been asking them myself for months now. I have been asking them to do that since London last year because it is very hard for me to clear my name.
“Only with something like this I can. It has been around for a year and there is not much more I can do to clear my name and I hope this will finally do it.”
