Viktor Troicki: Novak Djokovic will join Serbian team in Innsbruck after ATP Finals

Serbia Davis Cup captain Viktor Troicki has announced the team for the Davis Cup Finals and said that Novak Djokovic will join the team after he finishes his campaign at the ATP Finals.

Troicki announced that Djokovic, Filip Krajinovic, Miomir Kecmanovic, Nikola Cacic and Dusan Lajovic have made the team.

Laslo Djere was hoping to make the team but he was left out.

Troicki said Djere badly wanted to play at the Davis Cup Finals and he knew it would not be easy telling him he didn’t make the team.

Serbia will play their group stage ties against Germany and Austria in Innsbruck.

Djokovic making a strong progress at the ATP Finals

On Wednesday, Djokovic beat Andrey Rublev 6-3 6-2 to improve to 2-0 at the ATP Finals.

“I knew that I had to be on my toes and start well,” said Djokovic. “I dropped my serve again like in the first match [against Casper Ruud]. It was quite a nervous start from both of us until 4-3, then with new balls I somehow managed to find the right shots at the right time. I made him play, crucially on the break point at 4-3, when I managed to strike a good passing shot. Winning the first set I put additional pressure on him, and I started to maybe play more consistently from the back of the court. I served well [and] that helped tremendously. I wanted to put him out of his comfort zone, taking away the time and mix up the pace. It was a great performance overall.”

Meanwhile, Rublev admitted he was doing many things wrong against Djokovic.

“I was a bit rushing, a bit overthinking, because every time I was thinking, okay, now I have chance to attack, now I have chance to lead the point, and you start to think for the next two, three shots, and in the end you don’t even make this one
