‘Novak Djokovic wants as many records – he’s greedy’, says analyst

Novak Djokovic made his debut with a win at the 2021 ATP Finals, which are taking place for the first time in Turin. The world number 1 boasts five seals in the ‘Tournament of Masters’, but has not managed to conquer the title since 2015. In the all-time ranking, the Serbian phenomenon is only one length behind Roger Federer (who won for six times at the year-end Masters). Nole’s 2021 was nothing short of legendary, with the US Open final being his only real regret. One step away from the ‘Calendar Grand Slam’, the 34-year-old from Belgrade surrendered sharply to Daniil Medvedev in the last act of the New York tournament. Those who thought that ‘Djoker’ would suffer the repercussions of that disappointment were denied in Paris-Bercy. Returning after almost two months of hiatus, the 20-time Grand Slam champion won his 37th Masters 1000 career taking revenge on Medvedev. In a recent conversation on the Tennis Channel, Pam Shriver analyzed Novak’s chances at the ATP Finals.

Shriver talks about Novak Djokovic

“I think the fact that Novak Djokovic hasn’t won it in a last few years will fill him with a little bit more fire,” Shriver said. “And let’s face it, Novak wants as many records – he’s greedy! These greatest players of all time, they’re greedy they leave so little for the rest of us.” In the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers, Serbia upset Cristiano Ronaldo led Portugal 2-1 with a last-minute decider goal in Lisbon. Besides, Serbia also qualified for the World Cup in Qatar with this win. Hence, the Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic exuberantly celebrated the result. Indeed, a moment of joy for the entire country. Notably, soccer is the largest global sport and connects the world, unlike any other sport. Even Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic are passionate about this sport besides tennis. Accordingly, as Serbia qualified for the coming FIFA World Cup, Djokovic screamed “Idemo” at the top of his lungs. He even went to open the window and let the world know the news. (Idemo means “Let’s go” in the Serbian language). Presently, Djokovic is in Turin competing at the season-ending ATP Finals 2021. Considering his form throughout the year, he will want to settle for nothing less than the title. Looking at the physical fitness of Novak Djokovic, he has looked perfectly fine throughout the year. Furthermore, just a few days ago, Djokovic talked about the philosophy of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Ibrahimovic is 40-years old and is still competing at the highest level in football.
