Jannik Sinner: I had a clear goal in my mind which I didn’t reach in 2021

Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner was happy with his season but he was disappointed because he didn’t make the Nitto ATP Finals.

Sinner made five finals in 2021 and made it all the way on four occasions.

Unfortunately for Sinner, he lost the biggest final of his vareer.

In March, Sinner made his maiden Masters final in Miami before losing to Hubert Hurkacz.

Sinner captured titles at the Great Ocean Road Open, Washington, Sofia and Antwerp.

Sinner, ranked at No. 10 in the world, also achieved a career-high ranking of No. 9 this year.

“I think it was a great year. Winning four titles, making the final of a Masters 1000 event, two semi-finals in 500 events and many experiences which I am happy about,” Sinner told reporters, per Tennishead.

“I played so many tournaments for the first time so next year I know how it is there and how the conditions are.”

Sinner disappointed with his season ended

Sinner was in contention for the Nitto ATP Finals but he fell short in his attempt to earn a spot in Turin..

Sinner lost his chances for the Nitto ATP Finals after losing in the Paris Masters second round last week..

This week, Sinner lost to Andy Murray in his opener at the Stockholm Open.

“I’m very disappointed with how it ended,” Sinner said.

“I’m going to close (2021) outside the top 10. It’s tough because I tried my best at the end of the year. I played a lot of matches.

“Winning Sofia, reaching the last 16 in Indian Wells and then winning Antwerp. Now a couple of first round (losses), it can happen.

“I had a clear goal in my head which I didn’t reach this year. That was going to the ATP Finals in Turin. It’s tough but I can take away a lot of great moments of the year.”
