2020 French Open champion Iga Swiatek insists there are many open-minded players on the tour right now she loves the vibe she feels at tournaments.
Swiatek, 20, is making her debut appearance at the WTA Finals in Guadalajara.
Swiatek is determined to make a great result but that isn’t stopping her from having a good time.kff the court with her rivals.
“It’s pretty fun right now on tour because I feel like there are many players that are really, like, open-minded. I’m talking with Paula Badosa a lot, also Anett Kontaveit, Ons Jabeur. I feel every day when I go on-site, the atmosphere is pretty cool,” Swiatek said, per Reem Abulleil.
Like Swiatek, Badosa also loves having good relationship with players
“When I was 15 years old and I was playing my first WTAs, I used to see the energy and I never liked it, I have to be honest. I never, never liked it. I thought, if I’m one day there – I hope and I will try to work hard to be there – I want to be different,” 23-year-old Badosa recently explained to the WTA Tour.
Badosa, who recently captured her maiden Masters title in Indian Wells and broke into the top-10 for the first time in her career, admitted that having a good relationship with other players is very important to her.
“It’s something that I talk with the other players about. I’m lucky that I have a really good relationship with them. I think that’s important as well. It doesn’t mean that if you have a good relationship, then when you play against them something will change. Maybe a few years ago or some years ago, it was a little bit different, the relationships between players,” Badosa explained.
“A few years ago, I really thought that I had to be – it’s funny to say – sad or angry, all day like that, and that was professional. It’s not like that.”
