The PGA TOUR and Grupo Salinas, host of the tournament, announced today the Mexico Open 2022, which will take place from April 28 to May 1, 2022 in Vidanta Vallarta, previously included in the PGA TOUR 2021-22 Program as the Mexico Championship .
The Mexico Open has as its origin the Abrierto Mexicano de Golf, which dates back to 1944 and is considered the tournament with the longest tradition in Mexico. The 2022 edition will appear on the PGA TOUR calendar for the first time as an official FedExCup event, offering 500 FedExCup points to the winner and a $ 7.3 million dollar purse. The 132-player field will include 12 exemptions, with at least four players from Latin America.
