Barbara Schett: I am convinced Novak Djokovic has been vaccinated for long time

Eurosport tennis expert Barbara Schett believes Novak Djokovic has been vaccinated for a long time already but he just doesn’t want to reveal it.

Barbara Schett is convinced that Novak Djoković will defend his title at the Australian Open 2022. Schett: “I am convinced that [Djoković] has been vaccinated for a long time already, but doesn’t [want to] tell anyone.” https://t.co/utl82LMOU0

Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews is keen on not allowing unvaccinated players to compete at the Australian Open.

Djokovic, a record nine-time Australian Open champion, refused to reveal his vaccination status when asked about his participation at the Australian Open.

“Things beings as they are, I still don’t know if I will go to Melbourne,” Djokovic recently told the online edition of Serbian daily Blic.

“I will not reveal my status, whether I have been vaccinated or not. It is a private matter and an inappropriate inquiry.

“People go too far these days in taking the liberty to ask questions and judge a person. Whatever you say, ‘yes’, ‘no’, ‘maybe’, ‘I am thinking about it’, they will take advantage.”

Djokovic waiting for the official announcement

Last week at the Paris Masters, Djokovic made it clear that he will make his decision on the Australian Open when the official announcement comes out.

“Regarding Australia – to avoid speculation and assumptions, I am waiting for the official announcement to be released before I decide what I will do,” Djokovic said, per Tennis Majors. “I am not thinking only of myself but of all the other tennis players. We are colleagues, parts of a whole, we should be more united when it comes to important situations, but unfortunately that unity has not existed in the last 30, 40 years… We have now made the first step (with the PTPA), but there is still much to be done. The unity between the players is not on the required level. If it was, we would deal with such situations much more easily.”

Djokovic captured a record ninth Australian Open title earlier this year after handing a straight-set defeat to world No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in the final.

It would be a major shock if Djokovic really skipped the Australian Open in 2022.
