ATP Paris: Novak Djokovic tops Taylor Fritz to put pressure on Daniil Medvedev

The five-time Paris Masters champion Novak Djokovic is through to his seventh semi-final in the French capital after a 6-4, 6-3 victory over an in-form American Taylor Fritz. Novak beats Taylor for the fifth time from as many encounters, spending 73 minutes on the court and controlling the pace despite getting broken three times. Fritz gave his best to stay in touch with the world’s leading player, but it was not enough at least for a set, spraying over 20 unforced errors and losing ground in the shortest range up to four strokes. Djokovic struggled a bit behind the initial shot, but he fixed that with five breaks on his tally from nine opportunities, enough to set the semi-final clash with Hubert Hurkacz. Novak held with an ace in the opening game and created three break chances in game two after rattling off the opening seven points.
