Viktor Troicki, 35, ends his career

Serbian Viktor Troicki has finished his career following a loss at Wimbledon.

Troicki, 35, announced that he would be retiring after the grass season. 

Troicki, who turned professional in 2006, had a successful career which lasted 15 years. 

Troicki, ranked at No. 196 in the world, achieved a singles career-high ranking of No. 12 in the world in 2011. 

In singles, Troicki won three ATP titles. 

Troicki won his maiden ATP title in Moscow in 2010, before he won back-to-back Sydney titles in 2015 and 2016. 

In doubles, Troicki captured two ATP titles. 

In 2010, Troicki won the Bangkok doubles title alongside Christopher Kas. 

Seven years later, Troicki won the Sofia doubles title alongside fellow compatriot Nenad Zimonjic. 

Troicki achieved a doubles career-high ranking of No. 49 in 2010. 

During his career, Troicki earned $9,247,154.

Novak Djokovic shared a message to Troicki

“My friend, my comrade @viktortroicki,” Djokovic wrote on the social media. “You have been a very important part of my personal growth and tennis story. Hvala brate ❤️ Together we lifted the biggest team trophy for our country 🇷🇸 .. we celebrated victories and mourned tough losses. We both became parents and opened that new chapter in life. This may be the end of a fantastic tennis career, but I look forward to watching you share your precious wisdom as our national team captain… you are no doubt to inspire new champions my friend. Thank you for everything Ćivša! Good luck!”

In 2020 — at the inaugural ATP Cup — Djokovic and Troicki won the deciding doubles rubber in the final against Spain. 

This grass season, Troicki tried to make the Nottingham Challenger main draw but he was qualifying final round by Matt Ebden. 

Troicki then appeared at the Queen’s Club, where he made it past the quaifying, before beating Lorenzo Sonego in the first round. 

Troicki’s campaign at Queen’s came to an end in the round-of-16 after he was beaten by Frances Tiafoe. 

Troicki tried to make the Wimbledon main draw for one last time but he was beaten by Brandon Nakashima in the qualifying second round.
