On Wednesday, Bautista Agut kicked off his campaign and claimed a straight-set 6-3 7-5 win over Italian Stefano Travaglia.
Bautista Agut claimed one break of serve in each set and dropped no service games to claim a straight-set win.
“It’s nice to start the tournament playing a good match. I was very focussed and I really wanted to play here in Mallorca,” Bautista Agut said in an on-court interview. “I’m happy that I could pass this first match playing great tennis.
“It’s nice to play in Spain and it’s nice to play with a lot of crowd. Hopefully I can play many more matches here because I really enjoyed tonight.”
Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno Busta earn wins in Mallorca
World No. 13 Carreno Busta also earned a win on the grass courts of Mallorca on Wednesday as he beat Jiri Vesely 6-4 6-4.
Carreno Busta also earned one break of serve in each set and dropped no service games.
“I played against him in Australia this year and I won in four sets. Today I didn’t lose a set, but of course it was a tough match,” Carreno Busta said. “I was very focussed on my serves and trying to return as much as possible. [I am] happy because for me it’s very important to start the grass season with a victory.”
Elsewhere, Alex de Minaur beat Liam Broady 6-3 6-4 to progress into next stage in Eastbourne.
“It was very intense,” said De Minaur. “A very tough match at a high level, against a tricky opponent, who has been playing great. It’s a part of the year that I love. I enjoy the grass-court swing and I want to make every match count.”
