After many discussions, opinions, delays, there is finally clarity on the crowd frame that will accompany the French Open, the start of which has been postponed by two weeks compared to the originally scheduled date.
The news of the day is what the French government has communicated through the minister of sport, Jean-Michel Blanquer, and reported by the Reuters agency: at Roland Garros 2021 there will be crowd and to a greater extent than seen in the edition – played in autumn – last year.
The capacity, however, will be reduced: the main courts, in fact, will be able to accommodate up to a maximum of one thousand people per facility, a capacity that will also be increased during the last four days of the tournament, namely for the four semifinals and the two finals. of the Slam.
THE OFFICIAL DECISION ABOUT THE CROWD
As for the secondary fields, access will be guaranteed up to 35% of capacity while obviously maintaining the limit of one thousand maximum spectators on each field. This explains the two-week delay compared to the original starting date of the most important clay court tournament on the world circuit. A decision, that of the French Open, which also goes hand in hand with what was decided by the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.
The Roman Masters 1000 – as reported in the presentation through a note communicated by the Italian Government – will admit to the public for 25% of the capacity , even if this concession is allowed only from the round of 16 onwards, therefore from the Thursday of the Foro Italico tournament which will start on May 9th.
