This week it will be a truly important moment for tennis. After 14 months of absence from the ATP Tour, Roger Federer will come back on the court for the ATP in Doha, one of the most prestigious events of the first part of the season following the Australian Open and which are a prelude to the Sunshine Double.
But there are other major tournaments this week. Men will pay the ATP tournament in Marseille and the one in Santiago de Chile. Women will play Guadalajara and Dubai.
After a year, a month and eleven days, the twenty-time Grand Slam title champion Roger Federer finally returns to play a tennis tournament, making his debut in 2021 against the British tennis player Daniel Evans. The Swiss wins the success after a battle of about two and a half hours and a lot of show and returns with a success closing with the result of 7-6 (8) 3-6 7-5.
So many emotions with the public that seems to have found a Federer who appeared in excellent shape, almost as if time had never stopped. After winning the first set Roger falls in the second but effectively closes in the third set and beats one of the most fit opponents on the Tour.
Below the match point. The Swiss won the challenge thanks to an amazing backhand: a wonder.
Delight in Doha 😁
